LUNGSODAAN MABINI MT. HABOOGMt. Haboog is located 500 meters north from the Barangay center. Its piedmont dominates the northern part of the Barangay center, where it extends toward the “Nagasnas Quarry”, going westward to Barangay Valaga. A river at the east end of the mountain meanders toward the grazing/camping area and passes through the barangay high school campus and ends up toward the mangrove area/Lungsodaan Bay.
Mt. Haboog is a lonely representative of the world-famous Bohol Chocolate Hills. Like the other hills, it is a limestone formation, which is a part of a beautiful karst topography reaching the Bawangan Mountain. It is an ideal site for eco-tourism development (eco-sports or eco-adventure) with proposed tourist attraction features or activities to be established such as ziplines or T-bar cable lines. To attract more visitors, the summit can be developed as a Scenic View Park with a viewing telescope equipment, Kiosk, snack bar and a souvenir shop. It can also be a picnic and recreation area. An awesome panoramic view can be seen with Maasin City at further east; Limadjag Atoll at near northeast, San Jose (Ondol), Haugdan and Tintinan Islands at the north, Cabulao Bay at the west and the municipality of Ubay at further north. |
